Invitation    |    Agenda   |   Proclamation

We would like to formally invite you to join us at the Georgia State Capitol Building on February 8, 2018 for GSCA's Day on the Hill. Georgia School Counselors have specific training and a unique set of skills we use to improve college and career readiness for all Georgia students and therefore Georgia's economy. Our legislators understand this, and wish to recognize you and the significant role you have in preparing your students for success. Our State Legislators are supportive of school counseling, and we are eager to remain a credible and reliable source of information as we continue to advocate for comprehensive programming for Georgia schools.

During our event, we will hear from state legislators, learn about legislative initiatives affecting Georgia schools and develop increased capacity greater skills for local and state advocacy efforts. As well, we will connect with Georgia industry, child welfare organizations and the GA DOE regarding current perspectives of particular importance to school counselors. The day will include a proclamation signing by the House of Representatives honoring Georgia School Counselors and National School Counseling Week.

We know how difficult it can be to leave your school building, however, your involvement in this event is important. Our legislators want to see and hear from you regarding the significant work you are doing at your schools. Please consider joining us. This event will certainly be valuable and you will be able to take away information and advocacy tools to use in your school community immediately.

Our day will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. in the 15th Floor Conference Room—1566A* (*this is a room change to what was previously communicated). We will conclude at approximately 12:00 p.m. after the signing of the proclamation. If you are planning to attend, we ask that you please RSVP here.
